Introducing the IT Team at Perimeter
One of those questions I'm frequently asked is "who's on your IT staff and what do they do?" Well, it's asked enough that I might as well answer it here. It's actually not a simple answer!
First some quick stats on Perimeter Church. I am not the church administrator, so don't hold me to the specifics here -- they're just rough numbers for reference. Weekly worship attendance is about 4000. The General Fund budget is about $12 Million. We have about 150 church staff members (people with network accounts) and another 100 on the school staff. The IT budget is about $370K (just shy of $1500/end-user), which does include contract labor, but does NOT include staff salaries. IT is responsible for Networks, Computers and Phones, but not audio/visual nor our public web site.
12/27/2005 Update: Per Jason's comment, we have roughly 100 desktop computers, around 130 WinTerms (some of which are converted from old desktops) and about 20 notebooks. So, a slight majority of our combined staff are primarily Citrix users.
Here's the quick rundown on the STAFF team. I'll fill in the details in some subsequent posts.
Donna Bell - Shelby Specialist
Whitney Cantrell - Information Architect
Tony Dye - IT Manager
Jim LaBarr - Staff Trainer
Gail Richards - Department Admin plus so much more
Scott Hamilton is Perimeter's CIO, and on the side an inventor, and a great tinkerer. Technically, he's not part of the IT department, but we'll claim him anyway :-)
One of the things that may jump out to the observant is that none of the titles above (except maybe mine, if you stretch) involves things like server maintenance, network administration, workstation support, or other such typical IT things. "How can that be" you might be asking? Stay tuned for that answer.
Tony,
It would be helpful for folks if you list the number of workstations you guys support. Maybe even break it out between church PC's and school.
