Naming the Church IT Group
I'd suggested the name CITA (Church IT Association) a while back. Several people gave that a thumbs-up, but there was a bit of a challenge in coming up with a domain name (there were options, just not great ones).
Jeffrey Thompson started poking around, and looking at some other possible names:
How about we keep the national name of the organization: Church IT RoundTable (instead of Church IT Association)? Amazingly citrt.org and citrt.com are available. It’s short and sweet.
[...]
But I think citrt.org can be the main site. And then we can facilitate the local groups with: atl.citrt.org (Atlanta), neb.citrt.org (Nebraska) etc. I like the idea of calling it the Church IT RoundTable. It says, you have a seat at the table to share your thoughts and information. It focuses on the collaboration.
After exhaustive debate over a considerable amount of time (translation: Jeffrey and I swapped an email or two and talked on the phone for about 60 seconds), we made the decision. The domains are registered.
As a bonus, thanks to the nice work of Hector Sotelo at Sugar Creek, we already have a very usable logo! (actually several variations!)
We'd already used CITRT for the Houston Event mailing list, so the name isn't exactly new. So...this isn't exactly a call for votes, but I'll just ask for buy-in. Can everyone rally around CITRT?

Works for me. I checked those domains before the Houston Roundtable. Figured if I couldn't come, I'd hold the domains hostage instead ;-) Or maybe contribute them for the future...looks like I can save the $20, which my wife will thank me for...

Count me in! I think it really conveys the idea of collaboration and partnering with one another in our IT ministry.

I think this is a great thing happening here. Sunset Presbyterian Church will back it!

I think that will work just fine. I like the logo and the name.
Thanks, tm

Yes. I prefered the Roundatable name all along and LOVE the logo. Why mess with a good thing?

You have support from Sagemont! Hopefully after May 18th there will be hou.citrt.org with the support of several local churches!

And of course I think it's a great idea! :)
I have updated the site to reflect the Fall 2007 CITRT. We might need to recruit some volunteers to keep the web site up-to-date. It's just a matter of editing some files and ftp'ing them to my web server.
Also check out the CITRT IRC at irc://irc.freenode.net/citrt

Now that we have MinistryTECH (http://www.ministrytech.org) coming along, there's a good bit of opportunity to mix and match. CITRT keeps on growing.
