We're using GP 10. On a scale of 1 to 10 with ten being very happy, I'd say I'm at an 8. GP is vastly more robust than our previous accounting software. I love the fact that it forces our Accounting Department to be better at accounting and best practice accounting has to be followed. My disappointment would be that it didn't integrate with MS CRM as well as I'd hoped, but it is working well now. Another disappointment would be the cost of implementation and user training.
On the plus side, we have used Forecaster to allow budget managers the ability to create budgets via a web interface. We have deployed the FRx Web Port allowing budget managers the ability to see YTD numbers for the departments all the way down to transaction level detail via a web interface. Via the integration with CRM we can get information never before available. Reporting functionality is vastly approved. There is much that we don't use in GP, and there are several features that we'll likely start using in the next few couple of years. All in all, I'm happy with GP and it's functions, but am probably more disappointed in our vendor/installer than in the actual product. Choosing the right vendor for this kind of implimentation is key.

We use it at work, not church, but being actively involved in the church IT world I could draw some conclusions. We've got 8 users at work across 3 sites. It absolutely requires terminal services for WAN connected folks. I'll second the training and implementation costs of Jason. It was definitely a high touch application from a support perspective for about a year.
Our accounting staff likes it reasonably well. It does enforce good accounting practices, but it's not flawless by any means. We jokingly call it Great Pains :). If we had to do it again, would we pick GP? I dunno, maybe. We're on year three, and have gone through one major upgrade (v8 to v9).
Your implementation will only be as good as your MS Partner. Give me a call if you just want to discuss, especially from an IT support role.

We've been on it for more than 10 years. Our GP support person is now on staff with our IT team and is a CPA. She knows all the good stuff on it (and bad). Let me know if you want to know more offline.

It's a pain to install IMHO but after that it seems to run quite stable. Our users seem to like it well enough to not go looking for something better. I can put you in touch with our finance dept folks if you'd like their feedback since they actually use the software.
