This post is inspired by Keith Lowe and Laura Huckabee-Jennings. Not being an advertising person, the term "Ad Map" made me think of schedules and projects and all such things. Keith showed me a quickly hand-drawn map and explained it to me. Then he clarified that Laura had introduced him to the idea.
The idea is quite simple. Advertising is supposed to "do" something. It should change someone's thinking, or even better, change someone's actions. The map helps you look objectively at an advertisement and see if it meets the goal.
Laura recently published her own article about the AdMap that explains it well. You can find it here.
I'm sure someone else has already figured this out -- it doesn't have to be just about advertising! What about any presentation? Or how about relationships? Or teaching your children? The possibilities get pretty interesting.
