Looks like I was a bit premature in thinking our DST issues were all resolved. This morning, we have quite a few computers where the Windows time is off by an hour. Drat! I guess we get to manually tweak now. :-(
The Manual Tweaks Ends up the manual work isn't bad, just weird that it's needed, and especially that it's only needed sometimes. If you're reasonably sure the patches have been applied to a machine, yet it still has the wrong time, the solution steps are simple:
- You must be a local admin (but any account will do, this doesn't have to be done as the specific machine's user)
- Change the Time Zone to *anything* except your current one. Click "Apply"
- Change the Time Zone back to your normal time zone. Click "Apply"
- done!
Now...if you have the previous problem where the machine time was right but the Outlook Calendar had appointments at the wrong time, then repeat the steps from my earlier post. Of course, if you have to visit a machine, you might want to combine the two solutions and just go ahead and be redundant.
So far, I've only had one computer that the time didn't change on, but it is Spring Break week so many of the staff are out. It could be the calm before the storm.
